One of the first things Gordon Brown did on becoming PM last summer was appoint Stephen Timms MP a Party vice-chair with responsibility for Faith Groups. If the Labour Party has sometimes in the past shied away from talking about faith, Stephen’s appointment underlines its commitment now to listen to all faith perspectives. Stephen and Harriet Harman co-hosted a very well-attended reception for faith representatives at Party Conference 2007, and now the Party has produced a newsletter to develop further its links with churches and faith communities.
